​Correctional officers at Lo Wu Correctional Institution stopped a person in custody attacking a correctional officer today (November 1).
At 4.25pm, the 41-year-old female person in custody suddenly turned emotional and attacked a correctional officer with her hand inside the telephone room while she was talking on the phone. The officer immediately shouted her to stop and called for reinforcement.
During the incident, the officer sustained injury to her hand. After treatment by the institution Medical Officer, the correctional officer was referred to a public hospital for further treatment while the assailant did not sustain any injury.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The assailant was sentenced to imprisonment for the offence of trafficking in a dangerous drug.
