The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority:
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has been informed by some banks that a number of their Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) will be out of service temporarily, due to vandalisation of the facilities or security and safety considerations. It is expected that around 85 per cent of all ATMs in Hong Kong will be servicing over the weekend, depending on actual circumstances. The HKMA has also asked banks to step up cash replenishment arrangements for ATMs over the weekend.
The HKMA suggests bank customers pay attention to the above situation and notifications by the banks, and make use of the unaffected ATMs, online banking and other electronic banking services as far as possible.
