The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in November showed a drop of 1 061 cases, representing a decrease of 0.5 per cent compared with that of October, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (December 19).
The total CSSA caseload at the end of November stood at 227 489 (see attached table), with a total of 324 353 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, all categories of cases recorded a decrease. Low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 2.2 per cent to 3 668 cases while unemployment cases showed a drop of 1.3 per cent to 12 045 cases.
Single parent cases fell by 0.8 per cent to 24 856 cases. Ill health cases, old age cases and permanent disability cases dropped by 0.3 per cent to 23 191 cases, 142 799 cases and 16 805 cases respectively.
