6 missing after SW China landslide

Six people have gone missing after a landslide hit an expressway construction site in southwest China’s Guizhou Province on Saturday.

The landslide happened in Libo County at around 7 p.m. One person managed to escape, and three people were rescued and sent to hospital, while six others went missing, according to the county authorities.

The expressway, passing through a karst mountain with complex geological conditions, is under construction.

A preliminary investigation found that the landslide could be triggered by continuous rain in recent days.

The rescue is continuing.
